Bridge Structures

GLF has constructed numerous high profile structures including the Sidney Lanier Cable-Stayed Bridge, Seabreeze Segmental Box Girder Bridges and the Hallandale Beach Boulevard Twin Bascule Bridges. We have completed projects in nearly all structure classifications including cable-stayed, precast concrete segmental, cast-in-place concrete segmental, steel girder, prestressed concrete girder, post-tensioned concrete girder, as well as numerous complex bascule structures.

Bridge construction locations have included environmentally sensitive areas as well as urban and rural areas. The various structures include high level, medium and low level fixed span bridges, flyovers and movable structures.

The GLF team stays well informed of the latest developments in technology and construction materials, both of which allow us to improve our construction methods and exceed the specifications.

Heavy Foundations

All structures require solid foundations. The GLF team has some of the most experienced foundation construction personnel in the business. GLF has constructed numerous mass concrete foundations for large bridges and bascule structures.

Construction of foundations in deep waters, ocean tides, large temperature differentials and swift currents is the norm for GLF personnel.

Our specialties include caissons, deep cell cofferdams, drilled shafts, concrete and steel piles, as well as mass concrete footings and piers. Other foundations include steel sheet pile installations with tieback systems and steel and concrete cylinder piles.

At GLF, we look forward to constructing foundations out of the ordinary. We have value-engineered foundations on several projects saving the clients both time and money during the construction process. Light Rail Structures

GLF has constructed light rail projects involving at-grade facilities, elevated structures, and special structures over major freeways, railroad crossings and environmentally sensitive areas. Included in the construction are the stations and all appurtenances required to provide a complete facility.

Light rail construction requires a special team approach to the projects. Typically, construction is spread over miles of terrain in urban and rural settings requiring expert coordination and proven construction methods in order to meet important milestones and tight schedules.

Historical Renovation

GLF Construction Corporation has been involved with several structural and historical restoration projects. Most recently, GLF reconstructed the Venetian Causeway Bridge to resemble its original 1926 motif. Following numerous community meetings and design proposals, the public elected to restore as much of the structure to its original condition as was possible.

Structural restoration and repairs are complex processes presenting unique challenges very different from the field of new construction. GLF has proven to its clients, on several projects, that it has the experience, knowledge and craftsmanship to perform detailed restoration work.

Design-Build

Design-build is one of many alternative methods of project delivery. GLF has been active in the design-build arena for many years in Europe. In recent years, the United States public sector market has begun to utilize this method of procurement. GLF, drawing upon its international experience as well as its local ties to the professional engineering industry, is ready to respond to its clients' needs for this method of contracting.

The benefits of the design-build method of delivery include a shortened project schedule, single source accountability, overall cost savings, improved risk management, improved quality and less management personnel required by the Owner.

GLF has been involved in numerous areas of the design-build market including bridges, high speed railroads, buildings and transit light rail systems.

General Contracting

General contracting requires that a construction organization possess the necessary experience in all phases of construction and the ability to utilize diverse project teams effectively. GLF possesses those types of abilities with its international team of engineers and construction personnel.

At GLF, the process begins with a thorough evaluation of the project by identifying potential problems, the associated risks and impediments to a successful project.
